Honouring the long tradition of women being able to express themselves in the circus ring, this show is a celebration of the female circus artists, told through their stories as working circus performers.

Throughout history circus has done something that no other performing art is able to achieve: It has welcomed women for who they are and recognised their physical strength and abilities.

 

The circus gave women freedom rarely found elsewhere and unwittingly provided a model for female emancipation. However, some traditions hold fast and in this performance we question these and look at a women’s place in circus and the wider world in the present day.

Redefining the traditional narrative surrounding tightwire walking, this outdoor performance features an all-female cast of five high-level, multi-disciplinary artists. ELEVATEHER platforms performers to share their stories and experiences through circus, physical theatre and spoken word. Revealing struggles, strengths and vulnerabilities played out between three multi-height tightwire rigs. Expect unapologetic joy, defiance, beauty and strength.
